Terms & Conditions
How a request is reviewed, what a quotation commits to, and where risk and liability sit.
Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms & Conditions govern the submission of requests through chicagocmmcalibration.com, the issue of quotations in response to them, and the performance of CMM Calibration and related work arranged through this site. Submitting a request, or accepting a quotation issued in response to one, is taken as acceptance of these terms. Where a signed supply agreement or agreed purchase-order terms are already in place, that agreement takes precedence over these terms to the extent of any conflict.

Review of Requests and Contracts
Each request is reviewed before any quotation goes out. The review establishes that the requirement is stated clearly and understood, that the method, range and measurement capability needed are available, and that the laboratory selected to carry out the work is competent to perform it.
If the request calls for a statement of conformity, the decision rule to be applied is agreed in writing before work begins, together with the specification the item is to be assessed against. Any change of requirement after acceptance triggers the review again, and is confirmed to the customer before work continues. Requests that cannot be met as specified are declined or returned with an alternative scope, and never accepted and quietly reduced.
External Providers and Payment
Every technical service described on this site is externally provided. Chicago CMM Calibration and Repair operates chicagocmmcalibration.com as a marketing and referral website; it is not itself a calibration laboratory and does not perform the measurements described here. Each request submitted through this site is passed to an external laboratory that holds its own accreditation, operates its own quality management system, and issues its own certificates and reports.
Four criteria decide which provider receives the work: current accreditation and the scope of it, demonstrated capability for the specific measurement requested, traceability arrangements, and record of on-time delivery. Performance against them is monitored on an ongoing basis, and a provider that ceases to meet them is not used. Where a customer instructs that work must not be subcontracted, that instruction is honored or the request is declined.
For that introduction the operator of this website is paid — a referral fee, a fixed fee for the use of this website, or a commission on work that is placed. It is stated plainly so that the commercial relationship behind the site is not left implicit. The price quoted is not altered by it, and it gives the operator no role in performing, approving or certifying any measurement.
Quotations and Validity
What is quoted is quoted in writing and is valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue, unless the quotation itself sets a different period. The item description, quantity, measurement points, tolerances and turnaround supplied with the request are what it is built from.
Should the item that arrives differ from the item described — additional channels, a wider range, damage, or a condition needing repair before measurement is possible — work is held and a revised quotation is issued. Approval of that revision, in writing, comes before work proceeds.
Turnaround
Business days are the unit turnaround is quoted in, and the count starts at receipt of the item or receipt of written approval to proceed, whichever falls later. Expedited handling can be arranged where capacity allows, and is quoted separately. Commitments are given in good faith against current capacity; where one cannot be met, notice is given as soon as the delay is known, together with a revised date.
Items, Handling and Risk
Protective packaging adequate for transit is required, as are any accessories, fixtures, cables or software needed to complete the work. Risk in transit, in both directions, rests with the customer — unless carriage has been arranged and charged on the quotation.
Any item found to be unsafe, contaminated, or outside the condition accepted at review is returned unworked with the reason stated. After the collection or despatch period agreed on the quotation, completed items are held at the customer's risk.
Payment Terms
Unless a credit account has been approved in advance, payment is due in full before certificates and items are released. Where credit terms have been approved, invoices are payable net thirty (30) days from the date of invoice.
Prices exclude taxes, duties and carriage unless the quotation states otherwise. Overdue balances may accrue interest at the lower of one and one-half percent (1.5%) per month or the maximum permitted by law. Further work may be suspended while an account is overdue.
Ownership of Certificates
Certificates and reports come from the laboratory that performed the work and remain its technical record. The customer, on payment in full, holds an unrestricted right to keep, copy and use the certificate for its own quality, audit and regulatory purposes.
Because a certificate is issued as a complete document, it may be reproduced only in full; written approval is needed for partial reproduction. Copies are retained for the period stated in the performing laboratory's records policy, and reissues are made against the original certificate number.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality attaches to information obtained or created in the course of a request, including drawings, specifications, tolerances, measurement results and the existence of the engagement itself. It is available to the personnel and providers who need it to complete the work, to a body to which disclosure is required by law, and to an accreditation body exercising its rights of access. The customer is notified of a disclosure the law required, unless that notification is itself prohibited.
Limitation of Liability
Work is performed with reasonable skill and care, in accordance with the methods and standards stated on the quotation and on the resulting certificate. Where work is shown to be defective, the remedy is re-performance of the affected work, or a refund of the amount paid for it, at the customer's election.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability arising out of any engagement is limited to the amount paid for the work giving rise to the claim, and no liability is accepted for loss of profit, loss of production, loss of contract, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing Law and Revisions
Any claim arising under these terms is brought in the courts of Illinois, unless a different forum has been agreed in writing, and the laws of that jurisdiction govern these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
These terms are open to revision, and the version published at chicagocmmcalibration.com on the date a quotation is issued is the one that applies to that engagement. Related terms sit in the privacy notice, the website disclaimer and the complaints policy.
