Two things are set out below: what chicagocmmcalibration.com does with the information it receives, and who is paid when a request is placed. Both cover this website and the requests made through it, and both are stated in full, not summarised.

Request detail is the first category. It is whatever a quotation cannot be prepared without: your name, company, email address and telephone number; the item, the quantity, the measurement points and the tolerances; the standard required and the turnaround needed.

Technical detail is the second, and it is the ordinary record any web server keeps — IP address, browser and device type, the referring page, and the pages viewed here.

Payment card details are not collected through this website at all.

Information supplied with a request is used to review that request, to obtain a quotation from a laboratory able to perform the work, and to correspond with you about it. Technical browser information is used to keep the site available and secure and to understand which pages are used.

Information collected here is not sold, and it is not rented, traded or supplied to third parties for their own marketing.

Three groups see request detail, and no others.

• The laboratory or laboratories asked to quote or perform the work.
• The service providers who host this website, deliver its email or provide its analytics, each acting on instructions and none permitted to use the information for its own purposes.
• A court, regulator or other body to which disclosure is required by law, and an accreditation body exercising a right of access to a performing laboratory's records.

Drawings, specifications, tolerances, measurement data and results supplied with a request are treated as confidential, on the same basis as the confidentiality obligations that apply to accredited laboratory work. They are made available only to those who need them to prepare a quotation or complete the work.

Where the law requires information to be disclosed, you are notified that the disclosure has been made, unless notifying you is itself prohibited.

Cookies are used here for two things and no others: to make the site function, and — where analytics is enabled — to count visits in aggregate. Blocking or deleting them is possible in most browsers. Doing so does not prevent use of this site, though a submitted form may then not be recorded correctly.

Inquiry records are retained while they are needed to answer the request, and for as long afterwards as accounting and record-keeping obligations require. They are then deleted, or the identifying detail is stripped from them. The records a performing laboratory holds are governed by that laboratory's own records policy.

What is held about you can be disclosed to you on request, corrected on request, or deleted on request. The contact page carries the routes for making one, and an answer follows within thirty days. Any marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, honored as soon as it is received.

Where this statement is updated, the version published at chicagocmmcalibration.com is the one that applies, and no other. It is governed by the laws of Illinois.
