Performance verification, not a logo on a certificate
A CMM performance verification confirms a machine still meets its stated specification. Testing follows ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1, with length measurement error checked at 105 points across the volume.
As-found data is recorded before any adjustment. Certificates carry reference standards, reported uncertainty and a traceability statement to the SI through NIST.

Built for the independent job shop
Chicago's manufacturing base runs on small and mid-size shops - contract machining, sheet metal, plastics, general fabrication - each carrying a customer's audit requirement on its own inspection floor.
Scheduling accounts for a single CMM being the only inspection resource on site. On-site verification and ship-in service are both available.
Services
Calibration, repair and programming for bridge, gantry and cantilever CMMs and portable arms, plus the gage crib that sits alongside them.

Service areas across Illinois and the Greater Midwest
Coverage runs from Chicago through the Elk Grove Village industrial corridor and out to Aurora, Bolingbrook, Elgin, Gary, Rockford and Milwaukee.
Scheduling accounts for travel time between stops, so multi-machine sites and shops near a metro corridor are booked together where possible.
Why Chicago CMM Calibration and Repair
- 01
As-found data first
Results are recorded before adjustment, preserving the record an audit will ask for.
- 02
On-site or ship-in
Machines are verified in place or received at a partner laboratory, by shop preference.
- 03
Scope-matched labs
Work is placed against a laboratory's published accreditation scope for the instrument.
- 04
Repair and re-verify
Probe, scale and air bearing repair is followed by re-verification before sign-off.

Common questions
What is the difference between calibration and verification?
Calibration establishes the relationship between a machine's readings and reference values with a stated uncertainty. Performance verification checks whether the machine still meets its specification, usually under ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1. Most work sold as CMM calibration is verification.
Can CMM verification be done on-site?
Yes. On-site testing avoids removing the machine from the inspection floor. It requires stable temperature and vibration conditions comparable to the machine's normal operating environment.
What happens if a machine fails as-found testing?
As-found results are recorded before adjustment. If a value exceeds the specification limit, the finding is reported so a reverse-traceability impact assessment can be run against parts inspected since the last passing calibration.
